Nissan Juke: truly unique
If you’re looking for a car but can’t make up your mind between a SUV and a supermini, then there may finally be a solution to your dilemma.
The new Nissan Juke appears to be just that – a crossover between the world of big and small, a four-wheel drive that comes competitively priced against rivals on both sides of the fence. If you’re looking for something different then this has uniqueness in spades: its appearance is likely to split opinion, but there’s no doubt that it stands out.
Beyond its looks, as Parkers notes, the Nissan Juke hatchback is a very capable car, with two well-refined engines to choose from: a 1.6 litre petrol with a choice of either 115bhp or 187bhp power outputs, or a 108bhp 1.5 litre diesel. The 187bhp petrol gets the nod from Auto Express, and although Nissan claims it goes from 0-62mph in just eight seconds, the review site claims that it feels even quicker from the driver’s seat.
While the styling of its interior pales slightly in comparison to that of its direct rival, the Mini coupé, it trumps it in terms of practicality, cost and comfort. The four-wheel drive versions limit the boot space slightly, although they still hold a decent 207 litres – so, if you can give up some power, the 2WD versions have a more compact rear suspension that increases the space somewhat.
The new Nissan Juke offers a great amount of equipment too, with the option to personalise as you see fit. Even if you opt for the entry level trim, Visia, you get plenty: air con, six airbags, stability control and brake assist, to name but a few. The list grows even longer with the Acenta and Tekna trims, so it’s definitely worth investigating this car further just to see what the unique Nissan Juke offers you.
