Peugeot: a stylish all-rounder
Peugeot has a long history as a car manufacturer dating back to 1882, but the company actually traces its roots in France back as far as 1810, where it began life as a coffee mill company, then later a bicycle manufacturer. The coffee/bicycle world’s loss was clearly the auto industry’s gain, as Peugeot now stand as the second largest car maker based in Europe.
And for good reason: their lion standard evokes a certain pride that their cars deserve. From their
207 hatchback, which is praised by What Car? as being a brilliant all-rounder and a smooth drive, to their
5008, one of the most practical MPVs around, quality runs consistently through the entire range.
One of their current slogans reads ‘Drive Away Happy with Great Value’, which puts it perfectly. A new Peugeot is an affordable choice, but not one that compromises on design or capability. Whether you’re looking for a family car that still carries a lot of style with its substance, or a business car that gives you a lot in return for your cash, searching for Peugeot offers is a good place to start.
The names of their cars aren’t as inventive as some of their direct competitors, consisting mainly of numbers (
107,
207,
307 etc.) but the name Peugeot carries so much history and affection, particularly among Europeans, that to dream up a clever name would almost be surplus to requirements. It’s worth, however, making a note of the differences between each model when searching for new Peugeot offers online, as it can get a little confusing.
Peugeot is a forward-thinking company that has also made great advances in environmentally-friendly engineering, in particular with the
new Peugeot iOn, an electric car made in partnership with Mitsubishi. It’s inspiring that a company as big as Peugeot isn’t content to rest on its (well earned) laurels.
